What Does WAIM Offer?
WAIM’S free services include:
- Clothing - clean items, in season and in good condition. Most all sizes. Goods & Furniture - kitchen items, linens, small & large appliances and furniture.
- Utility Assistance - low income families ineligible for other programs receive energy assistance.
- Community Garden - participants grow their own vegetables, herbs and flowers.
- Back To School Clothes - children from eligible families receive new outfits.
- Unmet Necessities Fund - help when there is no other funding.
- Rooming House Rent Fund - emergency help for boarders.
- Windham Homeless Intervention Fund - WAIM administers this community loan program to help people obtain, or stay in, stable longterm housing.
- Single Parents Fund - Emergency help for single parents with children living at home.
- December Holiday Programs -
- Adopt-a-Family - donor provides holiday gifts, food and trimmings.
- For Kids Only - young children choose a WAIM gift for their parents.
- Gifts for Teens - parents choose new gifts for their teens.
- Special Projects - match unique donations with recipients in need, such as
- Computers with appropriate software.
- Used cars.
- Volunteer Opportunities - for people who want to help, who need community service hours and who want training for employment.
- Networking - community action networks to provide more effective services.
- Community Relations - WAIM participates in forums to bring people together.
