An estimated 13% of adults in Willimantic don’t have access to private cars, and biking can be an alternative form of transportation. Through the Bikes for Windham Program, WAIM collects, assesses, repairs, and distributes gently used adult and youth bikes for transportation and recreation.
We provide a bicycle, helmet, and lock all completely free of charge. We're able to do this thanks to the labor of our caring volunteers and the generosity of everyday people like you.
My old bike was stolen. This is my transportation; it's my car really. Without a bike, I'm incapacitated and stranded. I go to meetings. It takes me an hour walking, and this bike cuts it down to 10 -15 minutes. When I lost my bike, I lost my freedom and mobility.

Off to work on my new bike! Thank you very much. WAIM has been incredible to me! It's very nice to have some support when things haven't gone very well in the recent past.
- Eric
The bike will help me get to places I need to go instead of relying on other people. I don't have a car, and I won't have to wait for others.
- Keylitian
This bike will help me get to work and to my NA and AA meetings.
