Save the Date: Walk for Warmth 2026

Every year, hundreds of Windham area residents participate in WAIM's Walk for Warmth because they believe their neighbors ought to remain in warm, safe, dignified housing. This year's Walk is on Sunday, November 22, from 12:30 to 4:30 starting at Temple Bnai Israel at 383 Jackson Street in Willimantic. Many thanks to our dear friends at the synagogue for hosting!

Thanks for a Beautiful Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon!

Yesterday, about 50 of us gathered for at Willi Brew to celebrate their contributions to WAIM's mission and this community. Over 70 volunteers contribute to the life of the organization at least monthly.

They work as mentors, check in clients, serve customers, process inventory, and help with administration. Additionally, we partner with many congregations, schools, businesses, and other civil society organizations to facilitate periodic volunteer days. WAIM runs because of their commitment and the 7,500 hours of volunteer labor they contribute each year. Thank you!

It's Fall & Winter Fashion Season at WAIM!

You have likely noticed a slight chill in the air in recent mornings. Help our community members stay warm by donating gently used cool- and cold-weather clothing items, as well as space heaters that are in good shape. We often have a harder time stocking men's winter clothes, gloves, and (new) boxers and boxer briefs.

WAIM accepts material goods donations from 9 am to 12 pm, Tuesday through Saturday at our Riverside Drive entrance. As always, thank you for your generosity!

Volunteer Spotlight

Huge thanks to Lori for always organizing these beautiful seasonal displays at our entrance. It's a simple and intentional way of welcoming people into our space, and customers are free to take items on the way out.

Volunteering allows us to contribute to the common good of our community and to our own development, as well. If you'd like to get involved, contact Kristin Fortier at 860-456-7270 x109 or kristinfortier@waimct.org.
