That's A Lot of Socks!
Huge thanks to Laura Fish-Kelly and her team at Heirloom Private Wealth in Glastonbury for organizing their annual sock drive for WAIM! This year, they donated 2,033 pairs of new socks that we will distribute throughout the year, surpassing last year's mark of 1,800 pairs! Donations like these are especially helpful to clients experiencing various forms of homelessness and housing instability.

WAIM Joins CT Baby Bonds Ambassador Network
This week, WAIM joined the Connecticut Baby Bonds Ambassador Network, a growing body of trusted community organizations that serve the state's poor and working-class families. The Baby Bonds are a one-time $3,200 investment in the futures of Connecticut children whose births were covered by HUSKY from July 1, 2023, onward. Between the ages of 18-30, they can use those funds to make a downpayment on a home in Connecticut, start or invest in business in the state, pay for higher education or job training, or save for retirement.
The Connecticut Baby Bonds program aligns with WAIM's goal of reducing poverty by investing in the futures of poor children today. Click here to learn more about the program.

Irene has volunteered at WAIM for 17 years! When she first joined our team, Irene helped with data entry. These days, you can find her assisting shoppers in the pantry area of WAIM's Main Street Boutique. We are grateful for Irene's commitment to service!
