WAIM Second Saturdays: Limited Donation Pickups Start June 13!

We hope to make contributing to WAIM's mission more accessible. Starting on Saturday, June 13, WAIM's Warehouse Lead, Max, will run select donation pickups in WAIM's service area on the second Saturday morning of each month. This is aimed at helping potential donors transport items they would not otherwise be able to bring on their own. Our staff and volunteers are not permitted to move items throughout donors' homes or down flights of stairs. Please make items available on the curb, in the garage, or in the driveway. (Also, we're a bit rusty doing pickups, so please be patient while we work out the kinks!)
Click here to fill out the interest form, and someone on our team will get back to you. Contact Stephanie Balogh, WAIM's Office Assistant, with any questions at 860-456-7270 x105 or officevolunteer@waimct.org.
Liberty Bank Awards WAIM Grant to Fight Housing Insecurity

The Liberty Bank Foundation recently awarded WAIM a $5,000 grant to support our Emergency Housing Assistance Program which helps families stay housed and together. All of WAIM's Emergency Financial Assistance Programs provide a modest hand-up to our neighbors in need to prevent minor emergencies from snowballing into catastrophes that negatively shape lives such as evictions, utilities cutoffs, and family separation. The grant will help at least 25 families.
“We are pleased to partner with the Windham Area Interfaith Ministry to fight housing insecurity,” said Liberty Bank President and CEO David W. Glidden. “A little support can go a long way for these families. At Liberty, we are living up to our brand promise – to ‘Be Community Kind,’ and we are making a difference in our community.”

Thanks for a Constructive Delegates Meeting!
On Tuesday, May 19, representatives from WAIM's sponsoring congregations, the board of directors, and WAIM staff met at First Congregational Church, Willimantic for our biannual delegates meeting. After some community building over a potluck dinner, board member, Dr. Jeri Hepworth, PhD, facilitated a fruitful discussion on how we could better connect area faith communities and other civil society organizations to WAIM's mission. Thanks to Pastor Paul and First Congregational for their awesome hospitality!
If your congregation would like to plug into WAIM's activities or learn more about being a sponsoring congregation, please contact Kristin Fortier, Programs & Volunteer Coordinator, at 860-456-7270 x109 or kristinfortier@waimct.org.
