Windham Area Interfaith Ministry

Uplifting and uniting our community by providing caring services and resources to meet our neighbors’ needs with dignity and respect.

WAIM (Windham Area Interfaith Ministry) provides basic needs and support to area residents with insufficient income. Our goal is to keep people safely housed, meet basic material needs and connect them to resources that sustain their stability.

Our Programs

Emergency Financial Assistance

WAIM is dedicated to helping our neighbors who are struggling to make ends meet. Emergency financial assistance from WAIM can help with rent or mortgage payments, utility bills, transportation expenses, and other basic needs.

Material Donations

WAIM distributes donated clothing, furniture, appliances, and other household items to people in need in our community for free. Literally, tons of useful items are kept out of local landfills and welcomed into the homes of individuals and families who give them a second life.

Become a Partners in Independence Mentor, it will change your life!

Today WAIM was one of the beneficiaries of the UCONN Give and Go Program.

Students donate gently used items that they won't be taking with them when they move out. These items are the donated to local non-profit organizations.

This program went dormant during the pandemic, as most things did. We
want to thank Give and Go Program Director Sydney Seldon class of '25 and the other students and staff for reviving it.

Instead of getting thrown out, items like couches, futons, clothing, hampers, kitchen items, microwaves, pot, pans, rugs and mattresses were picked up by WAIM and will be sorted and staged for shopping.

The folks who shop at WAIM are never charged for the items they get. It helps to free up our neighbor's resources so that they can pay for groceries, bills or rent.

Sydney volunteers at WAIM. She has worked on the dock and at Intake greeting our customers. We appreciate her willingness to help us.

It's amazing that she finds time while juggling school and helping to organize this program. We are very happy that we have her for the summer!

A huge thank you to volunteer and back up Dock Supervisor Brady Timmons (pictured standing in the truck)for his mad packing skills. It's amazing how much we were able to fit in the truck!

Thank you to volunteer Bruce Frank (pictured bottom left) for the assist this morning.

Thank you UConn!!
