A Win for Active Transportation
The Leo J. and Rose Pageau Trust has awarded WAIM's Bikes for Windham Program(opens in new tab) a $10,000 grant for our programming in Windham! An estimated 13% of adults in Willimantic don’t have access to private cars, and biking can be an alternative form of transportation. Through the Bikes for Windham Program, WAIM collects, assesses, repairs, and distributes gently used adult and youth bikes along with a helmet and lock for transportation and recreation. We have distributed 150 free bicycles so far in 2026, already matching 2025's total.
If you have a used bicycle that could have a second life with someone new with just a little TLC, donate them to WAIM Tuesday - Saturday, from 9 am to 12 pm at our Riverside Drive entrance.
